How to make 3d button in illustrator

In this tutorial you will learn how to create 3d button in adobe illustrator. Within some easy steps to follow you will create this kind of button for your project, you can place any logo or icon above and create your series of social media icons or any kind of button etc. You can easily change color of the button from a single layer modification, watch the tutorial till end, thanks.

Steps to create – 3d button

Create a circle.

Apply Gradient, Click on the “Gradient Tool” from toolbar & change position. Place it slightly down and right

Now its time to start creating highlighted parts.

Make another circle, that will slightly less then earlier one. Copy this circle for further use, we will make more copies later on

Highlighted Point 01:

Paste that copied circle again, move it slightly down & right.

Select both & minus front from “Pathfinder“.

Decrease opacity. I make it approx 20%.

Highlighted Point 02:
– Paste that copied circle again.
– Paste twice
– Make upper-one slightly big.
– Move it slightly Left and Up.
– Select both circle & minus front from “Pathfinder“.

Highlighted Point 03:
– Paste that copied circle again.
– Paste twice
– Make upper-one slightly big.
– Move it slightly right and down.
– Select both circle & minus front from “Pathfinder“.

Highlighted Point 04:
– Paste that copied circle again.
– Paste twice
– Move upper-one right and down.
– Select both circle & minus front from “Pathfinder“.

Make a this kind of shape or a box above this layer
Select both layers and cutout the middle part using “Intersect” tool from pathfinder.

Now creating a shape like light boxes, create a circle and use only their border part. Expend it and use “Minus front” from “Pathfinder” toolbox.

When we create this shape, its became two different layers.
Select both shapes and make it “Compound Path“. So that it became single layer and easy to cut again with single command.

Draw two lines.
“Object > Expend”
Select both shapes and use “Compound Path“, so that it became a single layer and easy to cut from below compound path layer.

Another option: We can also create a box above that, no fill only border, Expend it. With that we don’t need to use Compound Path.

Decrease opacity. I make it approx 15%.

Highlighted Point 05:
Make another copy of this shape and place above it.

Star Shape:
Make a circle.
Radial Gradient.
Apply white on both sides.
Outer side – Opacity 0%.

Transform it & make it as a thin line.

Make Another copy – Rotate 90°
Select both and Copy/Paste again. – Rotate it 45°. Transform & Decrease proportions.
A copy of gradient transparent circle, in the middle and small size, just as like in the given below image.
Group them all.

Place it on the different locations.

Highlighted Point 06:
– Copy/Paste that circle again.
– Paste twice
– Move upper-one only Left.
– Select both circle & minus front from “Pathfinder“.

Place a circle above that area and cut it again.

Decrease opacity. I make it 10% this time.

Shadow: Create a circle, or copy/paste the the main circle,
Color it black, Make Sure, its 100% Black.
R : 0
G : 0
B : 0
or
C : 100%
M :100%
R : 100%
K : 100%

> Use “Effect > Blur > Gaussian Blur”
> Reduce opacity,

Opacity will depends on the how dark you need shadow & Radius of blur depends how big shadow you need (Area of shadow).

Move it back.

Highlighted Point 07:
– Copy/Paste circle again.
– Paste twice
– Upper-one slightly big.
– Move upper-one slightly down & Left.
– Select both circle & minus front from “Pathfinder“.

Decrease opacity. approx 50%.

There is an another method to make highlighted points, when we select both circles, then we use “Shape builder Tool” also. I use pathfinder, but you can use it also.

Cool 3d Text effect tutorial Adobe illustrator (Text Effect 8)

An another tutorial of creating cool text effect in Adobe Illustrator. In this tutorial i create a 3d text effect and use cool blue & pink color variant, Inner part of logo front have some curved kind of shade to give it a realistic kind of shine on logo, again some shining part highlighted with white transparent gradient lights, Watch the video till end, thanks.

Steps to create Cool 3d Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator

Type anything you need to create effect.

Apply Effect – 3D – Extrude & Bevel

3D Extrude & Bevel values i choose
Custom Rotation
Vertical – 16°
Horizontal – 16°
Rotation – 0°
Depth – 60pt.

After creating into 3d, apply “Object – Expend Appearance

And then Ungroup it twice, because i want to select each curved part and apply gradient on every section.

Select all upper one main layers, Ungroup it once and group them.

Disable main upper layer, Select these shadowed parts and unite it from pathfinder.

Some of these layers in group, ungroup it, & Unite it from pathfinder.
Select each section one by one and apply it, as i marked below. Later we will apply gradient on each part.

Select main layer, (Front one) and convert it into a single layer
“Object -Compound path“.

Make 2 more copies of this layer, change color of anyone, so that we can see the difference and apply “Offset Path” in -4 or else on the upper-one.

First apply “Expend Appearance” on the upper-one, bow select these both layers & minus front from pathfinder it from back layer, it will create a border.

Make one more copy of the main upper layer.

Create this kind of curved shape with Pen Tool, place it behind copied layer mask it.

Come back to main layer and apply blue Gradient. I apply light blue in the middle of graphic, so that upper curved layer make a contrast.

Come to the Extrude layers & apply Gradient.

Few layers needs to change gradient proportions, to show more darkness or light areas. Like layers inside the text (Like “O”) needs bit more darker shade on the upper side.

A Gradient background.

Come to the border layer, apply Gradient on that layer also. I apply little more lighter pink on upper side of gradient.

Make a copy of back layer, place it on back, move slightly right & down. Give it a light color.

Make one more copy of front main layer & apply Offset path -8 or more if you need. We will use it for masking, later.

Make a box with black & white gradient, we will use it as a mask.
You can make it directly on the mask layer also. I make it here, cut and paste it into mask.

Select it and go to Object – “Expend Appearance“.
Make it white – Go to “Transparency – Make Opacity Mask:” & paste that gradient here.

We will adjust adjust gradient and make it looks like appear on the upper part of object.

Shining lights, i create it with masked gradient.

Place it on the different locations.

A Star kind of light.
– Make a copy,
– Reduce height, make it as a line.
– Copy it again, turn 90°.
– Copy both and paste again
– Rotate 45°.
– Transform height/width smaller.
– Group all these 4 layers.

Place it on the different locations.

More lights with pink touch.

One last thing – A Shadow
A copy of back layers, apply black color and blur it.

Move it back.

Congratulations You’re Done, It’s ready!

Text effect tutorial (Adobe illustrator) (Text Effect 7)

An another tutorial of creating effect on text in Adobe Illustrator. In this tutorial i use blue & green color variant, blue use it as border and use it as layers behind logo with green gradient colored logo, there are some thin highlighted border lines at the upper & lower part of graphic, which gives it feel of a curve on that.

Steps to create – Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator

Type your text. This time i use “Gooddog Plain” font.

Text Effect

Convert your text into outline from “Create Outline“
– Go to Type Menu > Create Online
– Right Click > Create Online

text effects

“Object – Compound path – Make“, so that can became a single object.

Make more copies

Select back layer, color it black & select “Effect – Path – Offset Path“

Move this layer slightly down. This is first back layer.

Make another copy of this layer, change color and apply “Offset Path“.
This is second back layer.

Make another copy of back layer, apply darker color and move slightly down. This is third back layer

Do it again, fourth back layer, darker then previous one.

Make a wave kind of shape with “Pen tool”.

Apply gradient

Make another copy of very first layer and use it as a mask of this gradient shape.

Select that main layer & apply Gradient.

Paste main layer twice, now we create highlighted areas. Give different color and move upper-one slightly down.

Select both layers, use “Shape Builder Tool“, slice upper one and remove rest of the parts, only keep upper one.

Apply white color, it will give a curve and shine to the graphic.

With the same process, make a curve for bottom part, fill it with yellow color (depends on the color of your logo).

Congratulations You’re Done, It’s ready!

Text effect tutorial (Adobe illustrator) (Text Effect 6)

This is an another tutorial of creating effect with text in Adobe Illustrator, which we can use it as a logo or title etc. There are 5 layers in this text effect, Gradient text, 2 text outer border layers (black & grey), shadow, and 2 more layers, one in white for shining part and other in black gives it smooth curve kind of effect on text.

Steps to create “Text Effect”

Type your text, i use “Congratulation folding” this time.

Convert your text into outline from “Create Outline”, you can right click on text and convert it into outline also.

“Unite it” from pathfinder tool.

Make more copies, Select back layer and expend from “Effects – Path – Offset path”. We will fill it black.

Make another copy of black layer, expend it more, keep it light grey.

Now we are creating some highlighted points with “Pen Tool” and fill white color, so that it will feel like light and shining parts. We can apply little blur on that also, that will gives it a feel like light which merge into graphic.

Make two more copies of main upper one layer, which we converted from text.

Move upper one copy, slightly right and upper side. Give different color to both layer so that we can view the highlighted area which we need to cut with above layer.

Select both layers, use “Shape builder tool” and click on the bottom part, it will sliced bottom part separate, we need only bottom part, remove rest of the cuttings, we use it as shadow or curve of the text.

I apply black color & reduce opacity on the layer, or you can apply “Differences” effect from “Transparency” options.

Select main layer and apply cool gradient.

Do that same process again with back side black layer, i use “Expend Appearance” from object menu, so that i can merge border part with the layer.

We need to give a shadow/curve on left bottom side

Apply color to back one. Again i make 2 copies of same layer, move slightly left and down upper-one, Select both and cut upper-one from “Shape Builder Tool“.

I make fill it with grey color.

Now its time to create shadow of this whole graphic. Select the very back layer, “Expend Appearance” if its have border or we apply expend path only. Make 2 more copies.

Fill black color on upper one and white on down one. Move white back layer to right and down, or the direction where you need your shadow will appear.

Select both layers. Apply “Object – Blend – Blend options – Smooth blend”

Now again go to “Object – Blend” and click on – “Make”.

Move this shadow on back and enable all upper layers.

There are two layers in “Blend” group, Select black layer and apply as light grey as you need light shadow. I make it 30% Grey.

Move it on back and enable all layers.
